Abstract

The methodological guidelines for the elective educational components “Essay Writing” and “Sensory Linguistics” are intended for full-time and part-time students of the first (Bachelor’s) and second (Master’s) levels of higher education at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University. The purpose of these guidelines is to provide a comprehensive coverage of the principles and foundations of essay writing in English. The guidelines offer lecture notes and practical assignments. The preparation algorithm for writing an essay includes watching educational videos and completing short tests to ensure a better understanding of receptive vocabulary. For each topic based on a video clip, two essay options are available. The essay prompts include a key quote, a general task statement, and specific points to be addressed. The type of essay is also specified, which helps eliminate difficulties regarding its structure and organization. Significantly, these methodological guidelines align with the thematic content of the elective educational components, thereby facilitating the review and consolidation of the learned material.
