Посібник «Methods of Teaching English as a Foreign Language in General Secondary School» є доповненим та оновленим виданням, укладеним на основі конспекту лекцій “Methods of Teaching English as a Foreign Language in General Secondary School: A Compendium of Lectures” та термінологічного словника “Methods of Teaching English as a Foreign Language in General Secondary School: Glossaryˮ. Посібник доповнює блок методичного забезпечення нормативного освітнього компоненту «Методика навчання англійської мови» і призначається здобувачам освіти денної та заочної форм навчання другого (магістерського) рівня вищої освіти спеціальності А4.021 Середня освіта (Англійська мова та зарубіжна література) освітньо-професійної програми Середня освіта. Англійська мова та зарубіжна література. Посібник складається з трьох частин: тематичний розділ (Thematic Units), глосарій (Glossary) та додатки (Supplements). Тематичний розділ (Thematic Units) має на меті окреслити нормативні документи, що регулюють освітній процес в закладах загальної середньої освіти, ознайомити із традиційними та новаторськими методами викладання іноземних мов при безпосередньому (очному) та опосередкованому (дистанційному) навчанні, встановлення особливостей організації уроків для здобувачів освіти в початковій, базовій середній та профільній середній школах. Матеріал тематичного розділу допомагає студентам усвідомити взаємозв’язок та вплив лінгвістичних, психологічних та педагогічних основ у процесі навчання ангійської мови; відмежовувати компоненти та етапи уроку при плануванні занять на кожному етапі навчання в закладах загальної середньої освіти; коректно формулювати очікувані результати при навчанні іншомовному матеріалу; обирати та поєднувати інтерактивні способи організації навчальної діяльності в НУШ; забезпечувати гармонійне поєднання рецептивних, продуктивних та інтеракційних видів мовленнєвої діяльності в процесі навчання іноземним мовам; опанувати методики та способи організації навчальної діяльності при дистанційному навчанні. Мета глосарію (Glossary) полягає в забезпеченні систематизації ключових концептів і явищ, що складають предметну область методики викладання іноземних мов. Використання глосарію сприяє повторенню та узагальненню навчального матеріалу, що охоплює нормативно-правову базу, особливості процесу планування навчальних занять і факультативних курсів з англійської мови, лінгвістичні та психолого-педагогічні засади навчання іноземних мов, інтерактивні моделі організації навчальної діяльності в контексті Нової української школи, розуміння принципів організації навчання рецептивних, продуктивних та інтеракційних видів мовленнєвої діяльності, а також методів і засобів навчання англійської мови, спрямованих на оптимізацію навчального процесу в профільній середній школі. Додатки (Supplements), які містять практичні матеріали та рекомендації щодо планування інтегрованих уроків та використання методу кейсів, слугують інструментом для перенесення теоретичних знань у площину практичної діяльності, сприяють візуалізації та конкретизації методичних прийомів, що полегшує їхнє розуміння й застосування, та забезпечують систематизацію навчальних матеріалів, що є важливим для забезпечення якості та послідовності навчального процесу.

The manual “Methods of Teaching English as a Foreign Language in General Secondary School” is a supplemented and updated edition based on the Lecture notes “Methods of Teaching English as a Foreign Language in General Secondary School: A Compendium of Lectures” and the corresponding Glossary. The manual complements the block of methodological support for the normative educational component “Methods of Teaching English”. It is intended for full-time and part-time students of the second (master’s) level of higher education in the specialty 014.021 Secondary Education (English Language and Foreign Literature) of the educational and professional program Secondary Education. The English Language and Foreign Literature. The manual consists of three parts: Thematic Units, Glossary, and Supplements. Thematic Units aim to outline the regulatory documents governing the educational process in general secondary education institutions, to introduce traditional and innovative methods of teaching foreign languages in direct (face-to-face) and indirect (distance) teaching, to establish the peculiarities of organizing lessons for students in primary, basic secondary and specialized secondary schools. The material of the thematic section helps students to understand the relationship and influence of linguistic, psychological, and pedagogical foundations in the process of teaching the English language; and to distinguish between components and stages of the lesson when planning classes at each stage of education in general secondary education institutions; to correctly formulate the expected results in teaching foreign language material; to choose and combine interactive ways of organizing learning activities in the NUS; to ensure a harmonious combination of receptive, productive and interactive types of speech activities in the process of teaching foreign languages; to master the methods and ways of organizing teaching activities in distance learning. The purpose of the Glossary section is to systematize the key concepts and phenomena that make up the subject area of foreign language teaching methods. The use of the glossary facilitates the repetition and generalization of educational material covering the regulatory framework, peculiarities of the process of planning classes and optional courses in English, linguistic and psychological and pedagogical principles of teaching foreign languages, interactive models of organizing learning activities in the context of the New Ukrainian School, understanding the methods and means of teaching English aimed at optimizing the educational process in a specialized secondary school. The Supplements, which contain practical materials and recommendations for planning integrated lessons and using the case method, serve as a tool for transferring theoretical knowledge into practical activities, facilitate visualization and specification of methodological techniques, which facilitates their understanding and application, and provide systematization of educational materials, which is important for ensuring the quality and consistency of the educational process.
