Світоглядно-правові та релігійні цінності в житті та творчості Данила Братковського

Abstract

Стаття присвячена дослідженню участі та ролі українського шляхтича Данила Братковського у суспільному та релігійному житті Волині останньої третини XVII – початку XVIII ст. Автором констатовано, що Данило Братковський є визначною постаттю в історії України та історії Православної Церкви на Волині другої половини XVII – початку XVIII ст. Як активний і темпераментний, освічений та наділений літературним талантом громадський діяч, він щиро намагався підтримати православ’я в різних сферах своєї діяльності. Данило Братковський типовий представник своєї епохи та суспільного стану з усіма їхніми суперечностями та вадами. The article is devoted to the study of the participation and role of the Ukrainian nobleman D. Bratkovskyi in the social and religious life of Volyn in the last third of the 17th - early 18th centuries. According to the author, D. Bratkovsky was a notable figure in the history of Ukraine and the history of the Orthodox Church of Volyn in the second half of the 17th - early 18th centuries. On the one hand, he, as an active and spirited man, educated and endowed with literary talent, sincerely tried to support Orthodoxy in various spheres of his activity - at the sejmiks, during the «Lublin Meeting», directly in the estates which were in his possession. On the other hand, D. Bratkovskyi was a typical representative of his epoch and social status with all their contradictions and flaws. Thus, opposing violence against the Orthodoxy, he did not hesitate to resort to violence against Uniates. Stressing in his poems about the need to support the clergy's secular brothers, Bratkovskyi could afford to beat publicly the brotherhood deacon. He also tried to cope with the troubles in the Lutsk Brotherhood in rather an ambiguous way. It was hardly possible to instruct the members of the Brotherhood spreading the pasquinades, in which the author ridiculed/mocked at the brothers. However, such contradictions in the actions of D. Bratkovskyi do not compromise his historical image, but, on the contrary, give us the opportunity to see a real person with his inherent traits and feelings.
