An analysis of the scientific achievements of the modern Ukrainian Egyptologist Olena Romanova has been carried out. It is determined that the main directions of her scientific interests, in addition to the political and social history of Ancient Egypt of the Ancient kingdom, religion and culture of Ancient Egypt, include the monuments of Ancient Egypt in the museum collections of Ukraine. O. Romanov actively explores the collections of the Odessa Archaeological Museum, the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Reserve, the National Museum of Arts named after Bogdan and Varvara Khanenkov. Thanks to her scientific researches, it has been clarified not only much information about certain Egyptian sights, but several artifacts have been found and attributed. Her scientific popularization activity is also very important, which makes information about Egyptian antiquities accessible to the general public and encourages visiting museums. The main focus of the article is concentrated on research publications devoted to the history of Egyptian research in Ukraine and the analysis of the collection of ancient Egyptian monuments in the Odessa Archaeological Museum of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The paper gives an analysis of collecting practices in Olyka, further nationalization and division of collections, the emergence and decline of public museum. Also, it is presented some comments on the musealisation of cultural and natural heritage of the town. The author believes that for actualization of cultural heritage it is more promising to musealize not just separate objects, but all historical, cultural and natural environments including whole their movable, immovable, intangible objects and with participation of local residents. Such approach could be fulfilled in the way of creation «environmental» museum or ecomuseum. It should cover the entire historical territory of the town including the castle, historical and religious buildings, necropolises, objects of nature. Organization and conducting of research is one of the main tasks for the museum in accordance with the International Council of Museums definition. This function has often determined the general meaning of such "temples of muses" existence, the principles of their fund-formation, the specifics of work with students, and other moments. However, the big changes in the museum activities of museums have happened in the XXI century Based on the analysis of empirical material gathered in museums and collections of 74 HEE on Western Ukraine during 2013–2017, the author argues the axiomatic assertion about the priority of such a task is erroneous one and less than 20 % of them museums continue to be engaged in the research work. Comparison with the situation abroad shows that the causes and trends are similar ones. The text deals with the process of establishing the Museum of Liberation Movement or the Museum of historical and military attractions of Shevchenko Scientific Society from the forming a separate department as a structural part of the Museum of Shevchenko Scientific Society to formation a specialized museum as a separate institution (1937–1939). The role of the company «Young community» in the process of appearance of a new museum was investigated in the article. The regulatory base of the Museum of historical and military attractions was considered too. The text discusses a problem and sources of formation a collection of military and historical attractions of Museum during the first part of XX century, and the historical fate of these attractions. In the article the contribution of donors is indicated in the formation of major groups of collections. The most typical groups of attractions of military and historical collection was considered in detail in this article. The documents of the State Archives of Volhyniaregion that characterize the social, economic, legal, religious, and cultural aspects of the history of Olyka’s Jews end ХVІІІ– 30’s XX century in article are analyzed. The documents of organizations and institutions operating in the territory of the Volhyniaprovince, and since 1919 – the VolhyniaVoivodeship, have deposited in the seven archival collections. They are diverse in content and methods of compilation. The collections 486 «Olyka City Hall» (1799–1861) and 140 «Olyka Station of the State Police» (1920–1935) are the most informative for the researchers. These documents can be used for study the life of the Jewish community in the city, the history of Olyka as a whole in the analytical study of them.
